Top Tile at HD Expo 2015
In my previous post about the latest design trends spotted at HD Expo – I touched on some themes that were carried throughout the show. Since I design custom tile mosaics, I’m always trying to stay up on whats new in the tile industry. Here are some of the themes and styles of tile from the show that caught my eye.
Wood Textured Tile
Every tile company these days has their take on large format ceramic as wood planks. This has been big for several years now and I don’t think is going anywhere for a while. Artaic even has a couple reclaimed wood mosaic designs.
Walker Zanger was one of the standouts in this category for me. They took the trend one step further by introducing the wood grain into other shapes and patterns. They also had a really sharp looking porcelain with a reclaimed aesthetic.
Tile As Other Material
Wood isn’t the only material to be mimicked by tile. Companies are expanding their offering into other materials and textures such as metal, linen, and kraft paper.
Bold Color and Pattern
For the most part, the tile exhibited to the hospitality industry was pretty tame as far as color and pattern goes. There were a lot of subtle, natural patterns and neutral colors – well, just scroll back up through the images, you get the idea. There were however a few pops of color and intriguing patterns.
