Artaic Revamps Foundation Collection in Groundbreaking Expansion of US Mosaic Manufacturing
THE REDESIGN BUILDS ON A “TRIED-AND-TRUE” DESIGN ETHOS, REVISITING CLASSICS THROUGH A MODERN LENS.

Artaic, a leading mosaic manufacturer renowned for its innovative use of robotic technology and design tools to create custom, award-winning installations, has thoroughly revamped the designs and product concept behind its original design collection, Foundation.
This refresh introduces twenty-one new patterns of reimagined legacy designs and new colorways in a model that provides mosaics at unparalleled prices and lead times.
In yet another monumental effort to make the mosaic medium more accessible, Artaic has expanded its Foundation collection as part of the Designs on Demand initiative. The expansion introduces a wide range of new patterns and curated colorways, available for rapid production in square-foot modules and shipping within 2–4 weeks. To simplify the mosaic buying process, Artaic has introduced a Designs on Demand calculator tool that easily determines the amount of a selected design pattern needed for any given project, calculating the MSRP based on square footage.
Made from Artaic’s most popular material, Vitreous Glass, each design is crafted using the brand’s latest-generation robotics and stocked domestically in its Boston warehouse. Reinforcing Artaic’s dedication to advancing the mosaic medium through U.S.-based innovation, all designs in the Foundation collection, including new designs and colorways, are fully designed, manufactured, and inventoried in the U.S., and are Build America, Buy America certified.
“The reintroduction of Foundation marks 15 years since we first launched the collection and reflects how far we’ve come,” says Ted Acworth, CEO and Founder of Artaic. “Our investment in robotic technology, combined with U.S. inventory and manufacturing operations, has allowed us to order unique mosaic designs at a faster, more affordable rate. It moves us another step closer toward achieving our mission – making the beautiful and classic mosaic art form more accessible in terms of ease, speed, and cost.”
The Foundation collection, Artaic’s first design collection, is defined by its timeless patterns and classic aesthetic. The redesign builds on a “tried-and-true” design ethos, revisiting classics through a modern lens. This refresh is an ode to timeless design, exploring the fundamentals of design patterns: from Ticking Stripes to Awning, Checks in Bu!alo or Gingham, Keys in both Roman and Greek, classics like Glen Plaid and Houndstooth, a traditional Ikat, modern Coral, and a fun Flamestitch. “It’s exciting to revisit a collection so closely tied to Artaic’s roots, and to explore not just the classics within our archive, but the enduring classics of design itself,” says Ariel Schuster, Artaic’s Director of Sales and Design. “There is something to be said about design that never goes out of style. Foundation remains grounded in traditional motifs while updated with a modern approach to patterns and colorways that reflect what was timeless when it first launched and has stood the test of time.”
Many designs echo familiar patterns found in traditional fabrics or wallpapers, which can be scaled for varied spaces, from small residential areas such as powder rooms, master baths, playrooms, mudrooms, and poolscapes, to larger commercial applications. The Foundation patterns are designed to be timeless, offering designers a safe and refined option for authentic mosaic tile work that is visually impactful. Two new color palettes—Saddle and Black Tie—further reinforce the collection’s nod to classic design. Saddle combines rich chocolate browns and chestnuts with creamy tans and touches of burnt orange, while Black Tie offers a crisp mix of black, white, and ivory with the occasional pop of oxblood or navy. Responding to a market need for sophisticated, ready-to-specify design solutions, the revamping of the Foundation Collection offers competitive pricing and rapid turnaround, ideal for hospitality, healthcare, office, multi-family, and residential projects with tight schedules or budgets. Special trade pricing is also available, offering designers a streamlined, reliable option for meeting project deadlines without sacrificing style. The collection is unaffected by tariffs, ships in as little as two weeks, expedited. 4-6 weeks standard, and is priced at $49 per square foot (MSRP), with a minimum order of 60 square feet. BoF
