Toronto Bay Station

Artaic collaborated with ERA Architects and TTC to bring to life the art of Francisco-Fernando Granados as a colorful and dynamic mosaic in the Bay Subway station in the heart of the Yorkville district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The mosaic consists of 9 sections that match together to form the larger cohesive design. The complex features of the station building created a design challenge. The solution was to divide the mosaic up into the separate sections. The original intent for the Bay Station project was to create a site-specific public artwork that would read as one continuous mosaic environment integrated into the station architecture, extending across the walls and ceiling rather than appearing as separate decorative surfaces.
