Artaic’s backlit mosaic within the ‘Chateau Marrakesh (hookah lounge)’ tent, brings a middle-eastern flair to the modern glamping lifestyle and the Nevada desert. YWS Design and Architecture received an invitation to participate in the 2nd annual NEWH Glamping event and reached out to Artaic, who excitedly accepted. All proceeds for the event were donated directly to NEWH’s scholarship and educational efforts.
The drive to create a unique, yet functional, mosaic aligned perfectly with the luxurious and minimalistic tendencies of the glamping lifestyle. Bobbie Ols0n, an Interior Designer at YWS Design and Architecture, paired with Artaic to build a Moroccan escape, desiring a color scheme complementary to the scenic clay desert.

YWS came to Artaic with the idea to incorporate a sense of escapism to the Middle East, while simultaneously a creating a unique yet functional focal point for the tent.
The main focus of the tent Bobbie mentions, “was a boldly colored backlit mosaic”. It was “installed vertically at the back of the tent, which then water-falled down through the hookah table tops.” To create contrast against the mosaic, the tent used muted tones for the curtains and cushions.
Lit with powerful LEDs, the table was constructed with semi-opaque 3/4″ Vitreous Glass and grouted with Bostik’s Dimension™ RapidCure™ Glass-Filled, Pre-Mixed Grout, which perfectly illuminated the 43.54 square foot mosaic.
The tile sheets, produced by Artaic’s robotic fabrication system, were affixed to a steel frame and used Artaic’s proprietary translucent adhesive to bind everything together.
