Try ARTAIC…A New Beer From Trillium Brewing Company
Trillium Brewing Company is a family owned and operated brewery right around the corner from Artaic in the Fort Point neighborhood of Boston. Jean-Claude (JC) Tetreault and his wife Esther started the company with the idea to bring farmhouse style beers to the center of a big city. With a great response from the local community, they opened their doors in 2013. The design of their space was almost entirely created from reclaimed materials.
Artaic’s Cofounder & Creative Director Paul Reiss met JC several years before the official launch of Trillium. JC was sampling his homebrew at a local event, and since Paul is a homebrewer himself he began chatting with JC about brewing and business. Conveniently located several blocks from each other, they’ve followed the growth and success of each other’s business since then. When Paul got married last September, Trillium was served at the wedding.
JC’s vision for Trillium resonated with Paul and really reflects the mission of Artaic. Both companies are transforming age-old crafts with modern techniques and technologies. Just like Artaic, Trillium strives to create unique, quality products.
Our beers are what we envision might have been made today, if a centuries-old beer culture had naturally evolved in New England. We take inspiration from artisanal ingredients and practices and apply what is now known about brewing world-class beers. Brewing is a craft, for sure… and has nearly limitless opportunities for creativity and expression.
– Trillium Founder, JC Tetreault
The collaboration for the Artaic beer came about organically. Many of Trillium’s offerings are inspired by the community around them – Fort Point Pale Ale, Congress Street, Publick House, and Summer Street (among others).
A new strain of hops, called “mosaic hops,” has been on the rise since being released in 2012 – this was the spark. What else can you call a Trillium IPA chock full of mosaic hops?
Artaic Double IPA was brewed with 100% Mosaic hops, including two massive dry hop additions and local raw wildflower honey. Juicy candied peach and nectarine up front, backed up with a little white wine on the nose that continues straight through in the flavor. Pillowy soft mouthfeel, a restrained bitterness on the finish. Artaic is an innovative Fort Point business that creates incredible mosaics with a robot (illustrated on the bottle label!).
Sporting their new custom mosaic (made from tumbled natural stone to fit the reclaimed aesthetic of their space), Trillium released the ARTAIC DOUBLE IPA on May 19. Within 3 days, the full batch sold out, garnering great reviews. The response has been so positive, there’s another batch in the works.
