Timeless Tiles
This local mosaic company is taking custom carpeting to a whole new level.
Persian rugs may have centurylong warranty, but life expectancy is all relative when dirt, pets and sunlight take their toll. But now, thanks to award-winning mosaic company Artaic (artaic.com), they can truly withstand the test of time. The Lasting Rugs Collection, released last fall, offers tile installations designed to look like Oriental carpets, with styles ranging from traditional to contemporary and eclectic. Choose between various materials like vitreous glass, natural stone, glazed porcelain and sintered glass (sustainable) before customizing the design and palette for statement pieces that provide durability, cleanability and enduring style. “This collection draws inspiration from the beauty and timeless quality of the woven art form.” says Artaic Design Director Kait Paradowski. “Our goal was to celebrate these designs to their fullest potential.”
When creating your ideal pattern, start with a drawing, photograph, logo or idea so Artaic’s in-house creatives can bring your vision to fruition. “Where you might feel limited by the palette of a woven rug, you have the ultimate freedom to tailor the colorway of our Lasting Rugs to perfectly suit your space,” explains Artaic Sales and Design Consultant Ariel Schuster. Each material embodies a different aesthetic: For those seeking a variety of vibrant colors, Schuster recommends vitreous glass (which comes in over 18- hues), while natural stone produces a classic, earthy look. Besides tiling floor decor throughout your home, this Boston- based company also installs Lasting Rug mosaics on ceilings, in pools, spas and more. “I love the idea of using these patterns creatively in a pool – perhaps the central pattern covers the pool basin with a border design adorning the waterline or spa,” notes Schuster. “These mosaics are also the ultimate feature wall pieces, playing into the maximalist trend.”
No matter where Artaic lays your reimagined rug or mosaic installation, the piece will certainly dazzle while trying the whole space together. “I think that rugs are often used as anchor pieces in a room – sometimes in design you start with them,” shares Schuster. “What is so neat about this collection is that it allows you to take carpets off the floor and create that same effect on other surfaces.”
