Ostra Restaurant

Upon entering the doors to Ostra Restaurant in Boston, MA, diners are greeted by a stunning mosaic octopus that spans the entryway floor, tentacles flowing up along the walls. Harnessing a sophisticated yet comfortable aesthetic, Ostra is a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant inspired by both local and European seafood.

Designed by artist Joanna Ciampa and produced by Artaic, the custom mosaic design takes cues from the restaurant’s speciality in seafood, while the traditional hand-cut tiles are a homage to the long history of Mediterranean cuisine. Each stone tile has a unique texture and color variation, adding another layer of complexity and richness to the installation. The ornate mosaic mural is balanced by an airy, modern restaurant interior, kicking off a thoroughly elegant dining experience.
