Florida International University
Artaic collaborated with artist Michele Oka Doner for this breathtaking public art mural at Florida International University in Miami. Titled “The Third Day,” the piece sits on the exterior facade of the new academic health center at the university. The design is Oka Doner’s interpretation of the third day of creation when land and vegetation were created and depicts microscopic views of plants native to Miami, FL. Because the mosaic can be seen by both those walking alongside the building and by travelers driving on a major intersection close to the campus, this installation needed to have the ability to convey its message to onlookers both close and far away and it certainly succeeds. Using Artaic’s 1″ Vitreous Glass, the public art mural creates a breathtaking feature piece.
