Artist Feature: Susan Davies 

Cape Cod is not only a quintessential part of New England summer, boasting gorgeous beaches, seafood shacks, and great white sharks (JAWS was filmed on the Cape) – it also defines that “New England Coastal” aesthetic that we all know and love. A timeless style seen in interior design and home decor from coast to coast, featuring soft pastels found in nature, classic, simple patterns, and of course – all things nautical.

We are thrilled to collaborate with an artist who resides in, and draws inspiration from this famous peninsula. Earning her BFA from Umass Dartmouth, artist Susan Davies brings the colors and energy of the Cape to life in her paintings. When asked about her influences, Davies is quick to respond; “What inspires me about New England is the changing seasons and colors, our creative community, and it’s small town appeal.” 

Collaborating with Artaic’s design team, Davies’ painting evolved into a stunning custom mosaic. Davies’ carefully curated color selection brings her piece Shellebration to the next level.  

This piece illustrates how wonderfully paintings can translate to mosaic artwork.  Using our innovative Tylist software and robotic manufacturing, Shellebration was transformed from delicate brush strokes in oil paint to shimmering, dynamic vitreous glass tile. As a mosaic this piece becomes a life-long custom art installation.
