Tessera Mosaic Demo in Microsoft Boston
On October 6, The Artaic and Bostik Team collaborated with a creative set of architects, designers and artists for their first ever Workshop in Boston’s Prudential Center Microsoft store. Those attending the event excitedly awaited to begin the night’s live demo with Artaic’s Mosaic software, Tessera™.
To begin the evening, the Founder and CEO of Artaic, Ted Acworth, and Scott Banda, Director of Marketing & Business Development of Bostik’s Consumer & Construction Business Unit, began the evening with a brief introduction about each company, their missions, and each company’s goal to innovate their businesses.
Lu Dubois, Artaic’s National Account Manager, followed the dynamic duo with a case study, highlighting a local pharmaceutical company, Vertex. While presenting, Lu discussed the amazing ability to turn a client’s vision into a custom creation made possible by the Tessera software.
Finally, Artaic’s lead designer, Tony Nguyen, unveiled Artaic’s newest mosaic software, Tessera™.
“Hosting the Artaic software workshop at the Microsoft store was a very enjoyable experience. The staff was very helpful and the location is perfect for designers of Boston.”
The software development of Tessera™ was supported in part by the National Science Foundation under a small Business Innovation Research grant that has helped Artaic create innovative technologies both software and robotics.
After a brief tutorial, attendees were given the opportunity to explore the software at individual workstations and create their own mosaic imagery.
Once all participants were settled and had a handle on the software, those interested entered to compete against one another in hopes of wining their very own Microsoft tablet. Competitors were instructed to design a mosaic, which complimented the microsoft store, and would be judged by their peers.
Samantha Clarke, Director of Interiors at Miller Dyer Spears, won the competition, designing a beautiful mosaic of Bill Gates. (see below)
The fun then continued for an hour of cocktails at the Mandarin Hotel Bar Boulud, where guests networked, discussed their latest projects and overall enjoyed themselves.
The evening was a big success and we received a lot of valuable feedback from all the attendees, who used the software. This will help Artaic continue to better the tools to make mosaic art once again an option as a high-impact architectural surface finishing.
