Legal Crossing
As part of Design Museum Boston’s “Design For Dining” exhibit, Artaic worked with Boston-based design firm Bergmeyer to produce a custom orange mosaic tabletop for Legal Crossing.
The backlit table acts as the centerpiece of a private circular booth, the perfect setting for a specially crafted dinner that aims to engage all five senses. The custom seating uses a combination of different textures while the mosaic tabletop – outfitted with color-changing LED’s – elevates the meal into a truly unique, interactive dining experience.

CREATIVE CONCEPTUALIZATION
Design Museum Boston paired seven of Boston’s best design firms with seven restaurants in Downtown Crossing to create unique vignettes that highlight how design can shape the dining experience.
Artaic worked with Bergmeyer to design a custom backlit mosaic as part of their vignette for Legal Crossing. The orange tile design fits in with the rich, warm hues used for the restaurant’s furnishings while the abstract pattern lends a modern touch.

Unique Fabrication Process
While the mosaic sheets were laid out by Artaic’s robotic fabrication system, custom LED lighting was added to the underside of the table. The mosaic is comprised of clear glass and sintered glass tiles to maximize the impact of the backlighting.
The LED lights are programmed to gradually shift from amber to crimson over the course of the 2-hour dining experience.
