2014 Product Innovation Awards
The winners of the fourth annual Product Innovation Awards (PIA) were announced in the November 2014 edition of Architectural Products Magazine. The Product Innovation Awards recognize product ingenuity in the built environment and span all products throughout the market sector and archetypes. This year Artaic received the PIA in the Surfaces category for the SPLASH! Mosaic Collection, as well as the Industry Leadership Award for URBN, Artaic’s collaboration with Artists For Humanity (AFH). The Product Innovation Awards recognize a wide-ranging variety of buildings-related products. With a focus on bringing innovation to the forefront, Architectural Products Magazine asked the jury of renowned architects, engineers, and industry experts to evaluate the entries and award the products that were truly worthy of investigating.
The SPLASH! Mosaic Collection is a versatile series of free flowing tile patterns and rich textures inspired by the spontaneous movements of water. Artaic’s innovative robotic manufacturing system enables all mosaic patterns to be completely customizable, from the size and shape of the mosaic to the color palette. See All SPLASH! Designs >>
“Artaic’s corporate culture of community involvement is a true example of social justice in design and manufacturing.”
Beyond recognizing innovative products, PIA 2014 also recognized manufacturers who do outstanding things for the community outside of making quality products. Artaic was awarded the Industry Leadership Award for URBN, a collaboration with local Artists For Humanity (AFH) youth artists.
“The two organizations’ missions to create transformative art aligned, and the stunning results elevate both the community and the company’s unique mosaic collection.”
AFH bridges economic, racial, and social divisions by providing under-resourced youth with the keys to self-sufficiency through paid employment in the arts. Artaic worked with the AFH youth artists to transform their original artwork into unique mosaics. All proceeds go towards supporting their program.
“Like art, this example speaks louder than words, and hopefully the catalog is widely distributed and recognized among their peers in the industry.”
